Solista y profesor de viola del Conservatorio Profesional de Alicante, miembro fundador del Cuarteto Almus y de Il Concerto Accademico. Licenciado y Doctor en Historia del Arte por la Universidad de Murcia con la Tesis Doctoral con Mención Europea (en idioma alemán) La interrelación Música-Pintura: un análisis comparativo actualizado de sus principales fundamentos técnicos y expresivos. Algunos de los resultados obtenidos a través de sus investigaciones se han difundido en publicaciones y en diferentes foros y congresos especializados, entre los que cabe citar el encuentro internacional Art and Science: Exploring the limits of human perception, (Benasque 2009)- con la presencia colaborativa de los Profs. Torsten Wiesel (Premio Nobel de Medicina 1981) y Semir Zeki (fundador de la Neuroestética), los Cursos de Verano de El Escorial de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2010, 2011), los de las Universidades de Alicante (2003, 2009), Murcia (2009), Universidad Ramón Llull de Barcelona (2011),  Museo Elder de la Ciencias de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (2011), el Curso La Neurología Prístina en la Biblioteca Nacional (Madrid, 2011), el Congreso de la Sociedad Española de Psicología Comparada (Bilbao 2008, Salamanca 2009), el Congreso Nacional de la Sociedad Española de Neurología (Barcelona 2008, 2009, 2010), el Congreso Internacional de Investigación de Música, (Valencia 2010), el Curso de Historia de la Neurología de la Sociedad Española de Neurología (México D.F., 2011), I Congreso Internacional de Espacios de Arte y Salud, Denia 2012, 2014, Ciclo La Ciencia del Arte: Retos de la Neuroestética (La Caixa, CSIC, Palma de Mallorca, 2014), BIT’s 6th Annual World Congress of Neurotalk  (Hangzhou (China,) 2015.

Además de editor adjunto, ha colaborado como autor en el libro Neuroestética, editado por la Sociedad Española de Neurología en Barcelona en 2010, habiendo también prologado la monografía Grandes neurólogos de la Historia amantes del Arte.

Actualmente se encuentra realizando, entre otros proyectos científicos, experimentos conductuales, electrofisiológicos con EEG (electroencefalografía) y neuroimagen con fMRI (Resonancia Magnética Funcional) con un Grupo de Trabajo, formado por el profesor Javier Campos Bueno, de la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y el profesor Pedro Montoya, de la Universidad de las Illes Balears de Palma de Mallorca, supervisados por el eminente profesor Niels Birbaumer de la Universidad de Tübingen (Alemania), con varias publicaciones relacionadas que aparecerán en breve. Igualmente investiga en el campo de la sonidificación de las espinas dendríticas con el prestigioso neurobiólogo Javier de Felipe del Instituto Cajal de Madrid y en el Proyecto Cajal Blue Brain de la Universidad Polictécnica de Madrid. Además, participa en un Proyecto de I+D+I del Ministerio de Cultura de España HAR2011-29305, a través de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid titulado Sinestesias: analogías e interrelaciones entre la música, las artes y la literatura del siglo XX. Para una cosmología de los sentidos.

Asimismo es el Director del Proyecto Artyciencia: Beethoven y la pintura en tu cerebro y del Artyciencia CYBER BRAIN: Beethoven y la pintura en tu cerebro (junto con Javier Campos Bueno), en colaboración con la Universidades Complutense y Politécnica de Madrid, el CTB (Centro de Tecnología Biomédica) y el CSIC (Centro Superior de Investigaciones  Científicas de España) (Prof. Fernando Maestú). Asimismo ha colaborado con el Instituto de Neurociencias de Alicante. Acaba de emprender una nueva línea de investigación sobre multisensorialidad estética en el Laboratorio de Neuroingeniería Biomédica de la Universidad “Miguel Hernández” de Elche (Prof. Eduardo Fernández Jover).

 

CV completo  Octavio de Juan Ayala

Nace en Murcia, en cuyo Conservatorio obtiene el título de Profesor de Violín y el de Profesor Superior de Viola por el Conservatorio Superior de Alicante. Ha sido alumno de Antonio Arias en Madrid, de Liviu Stanese en París y, posteriormente, de Christian Euler y Christos Polyzoides en la Universidad de Música de Graz (Austria) y ha recibido consejos de Gontzal Comellas, Peter Hatch, Georg Hammann e Ivry Gitlis.

Formó parte de la Orquesta de Cámara de la Región de Murcia como viola principal y, desde el año 2000, lo es de Il Concerto Accademico, orquesta de cámara con la que ha grabado cinco CDs editados por el Sello RTVE, interviniendo de solista del Concierto para dos violas en Sol mayor de Telemann en el titulado Música para Don Quijote.

Ha intervenido como solista con orquestas sinfónicas en el Concierto para viola y orquesta de Bela Bartok y la Sinfonía Concertante KV 364 de Mozart.
Forma dúo con la violinista Margherita Marseglia actuando en España, Alemania y Grecia y ha dado numerosos recitales con pianistas junto a Pilar Valero, Antonio Narejos, Jesús María Gómez o Janna Polyzoides.

En su faceta de intérprete de música contemporánea, ha sido componente del grupo instrumental Concertus Novo, celebrando conciertos en los Auditorios de Madrid, Zaragoza y Murcia, entre otros.

Desde 1989 es miembro fundador del Cuarteto Almus, con el que ha ofrecido recitales en Francia, Bélgica, Italia, República Checa y por toda la geografía española, entre los que cabe destacar el celebrado en noviembre de 2001 en el Palacio Real de Madrid, bajo la Presidencia de Honor de SSMM los Reyes de España, tocando con la famosa colección palatina de instrumentos realizados por Antonio Stradivarius, y la realización, en la temporada 2006/7, de la Integral de los 17 Cuartetos de Beethoven, siendo la primera agrupación española que desde 1915 ha abordado este corpus magistral. Entre sus grabaciones destaca el CD editado por el Sello RTVE titulado El Humor en la Música de Cámara, así como la grabación en directo del concierto en el Oratorio de la Santa Cueva de Cádiz interpretando Las Siete Últimas Palabras de Cristo en la Cruz, editado en DVD por el sello Columna Música y distribuido por Diverdi, siendo la primera grabación realizada en versión de cuarteto de cuerdas en ese emblemático lugar, pues fue la institución que encargó la obra y donde se interpretó por vez primera.

Como profesor por oposición de viola desde 1992, ha venido ejerciendo su labor docente, además de en diversos cursos y encuentros, en los Conservatorios Superiores de Música de Murcia y de Alicante y ahora en el Conservatorio Profesional de Alicante.

Recientemente ha abierto nuevas vías de investigación y colaboración en el campo de la evaluación de las emociones en síndrome de Down y autismo con la Asociación Argadini de Madrid así como con el Hospital de Denia y Seguros DKV para investigación de las posibilidades terapéuticas y clínicas del Arte.

3. Cerebral Synchronization by playing a Beethoven’s String Quartet: on Juny, 2013 in the CTB (Centre for Biomedical Technology) was achieved the first EEG recording of a string quartet playing simultaneously (with his own Almus Quartet, and Prof. Fernando Maestú, among others).

Born in Murcia, Spain, he attended the Conservatorio Superior, where he was formed, and obtained the degree of Professor of Violin. In the Conservatorio Superior de Alicante, Spain, he obtained the degree of Professor Superior de Viola.

He has been a pupil of Antonio Arias (Madrid), Liviu Stanese (Paris) and of Christian Euler and Christos Polyzoides , at the University of Music, in Graz (Austria).

He attended the counseling of Gontzal Comellas, Peter Hatch, Georg Hamman and Ivry Gitlis.

He was engaged to the Chamber Orchestra of the Región of Murcia.

In 2000 he was one of the founders of Il Concerto Accademico Chamber Orchestra, becoming the Viola soloist in it.

They have recorded five CD under the sponsoring of RTVE (Spanish Radio-Television), being the soloist at the Telemann Concerto for two Violas in G Major, in the CD named Music for Don Quijote.

As a soloist he has played with different orchestras, the Bela Bartok’s Concerto for Viola and Orchestra, and Mozart’s Sinfonía Concertante KV 364.

Forms duet with violinist Margherita Marseglia performing in Spain, Germany and Greece and has given numerous recitals with pianists as Pilar Valero, Antonio Narejos, Jesús María Gomez or Janna Polyzoides.

In his role as interpreter of contemporary music, he has been instrumental component of the group Concertus Novo, holding concerts in the Auditorium of Madrid, Zaragoza and Murcia, among others.

Since 1989, he is a founding member of Almus Quartet, with which he has given recitals in France, Belgium, Italy, Czech Republic and throughout the Spanish territory, among which stands out in November 2001 the one at the Royal Palace in Madrid, under the Honorary Presidency of the HH MM King and Queen of Spain, playing with the famous instruments collection of Royal Palace made by Antonio Stradivarius, belonged by the National Treasure.

In 2006/7 they played the Integral of the 17 String Quartets by Beethoven. This magisterial corpus had not been played by Spanish Musicians, since 1915.

Among its TV and CD recordings, it should be noted the CD of the label RTVE entitled Humor in chamber music and the live recording of the concert in the Oratory of the Holy Cave of Cádiz playing The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross by Franz Joseph Haydn, published in DVD by the label Columna Música and distributed by Diverdi, being the first recording made of this magnificent piece in string quartet version in that emblematic place, as was the institution that commissioned the work and where it was first performed.

As a professor (Chair) of viola since 1992, has been exercising his teaching, in addition to several courses and meetings, in the Superior Conservatory of Music of Murcia and Alicante and now at the Professional Conservatory of Alicante.
